RAILWAY TRANSIT TO POLAND IS PAUSED
The reasons for the adoption of such a decision by RZD are silent.
From June 23 until the cancellation, Russian Railways has suspended the loading of certain types of goods that go to Poland in transit through Belarus, Interfax reports. There is no complete stoppage of transportation to the Republic of Poland. It has not yet been specified what kind of cargo is involved.
“The loading of a number of goods transiting through Belarus to Poland has been suspended,” Russian Railways said without specifying the reasons for such a decision.
Since April 10, Russian Railways has banned the shipment of all goods through the Mamonovo railway checkpoint in the Kaliningrad region to Braniewo in Poland. Then the decision was explained by repair work on the territory of Poland. The representative of the state-owned company explained that this was done to avoid the accumulation of rolling stock and delays in the transfer of goods following through this crossing.
In addition, since April 7, shipments to the Luzhskaya-export station of the Oktyabrskaya Railway have been limited. Recall that in March 2022, some consignors of the Russian Federation decided to refuse rail deliveries of goods to “unfriendly countries”.
